In-line machine vision

In-line vision inspection that bolts onto the conveyor you already run.

One station: camera, lighting, frame, inspection software. Dimensional, surface and character checks at line speed, over PROFINET or EtherNet/IP.

The mounting hardware of an inspection station clamped onto the side rails of an existing belt conveyor: two adjustable posts, a cross beam carrying a camera plate, a cable chain and a junction box with M12 connectors.

Installation

Retrofits onto an existing conveyor

We do not replace your conveyor. The frame clamps to the existing side rails, the heads hang off a cross beam you can slide along it, and the belt stays where it was.

Frame footprint
620 × 380 mm at the rails, 1 100 mm of clear height above the belt
Belt widths
200 to 900 mm. The frame straddles the belt; no cut-outs, no re-tracking
Fitting time
4 to 6 h with the line stopped. Clamped to the side rails — no welding, no drilling
Handshake
PROFINET, EtherNet/IP or 24 V hard-wired I/O. Reject signal within 40 ms of the frame
Ambient
0 to 45 °C, 0 to 90 % RH non-condensing. IP54 heads, IP20 controller cabinet

What the station checks

Three inspection jobs on one frame.

Heads share the frame, the controller and the licence. Adding a second job to a running station takes a bracket and a cable.

  1. 01

    Dimensional gauging±0.02 mm, 2σ

Telecentric optics and a collimated backlight on a 90 mm field. Reported per part, not per batch.

  2. 02

    Surface defect0.04 mm / pixel

Dome or grazing light chosen against the finish, not against the part. 24 MP over a 480 mm field.

  3. 03

Code and character600 reads / min

OCR, OCV and 1D/2D codes graded to ISO/IEC 15415. Grade is logged, not just pass or fail.

Why in-line inspection fails

Lighting and timing decide the result

What goes wrong

Ambient light drifts
A shutter tuned in February reads differently under July daylight through the roof lights.
The part moves
0.3 mm of belt bounce is fifteen pixels at 0.02 mm per pixel. The optics were never the problem.
Nobody re-calibrates
The accuracy figure is proven once, at handover, and then nobody owns it again.

What we do about it

Every exposure brings its own light
Strobed bar and dome lights. Hall lighting contributes under 2 % of the signal.
The trigger comes from the belt
Encoder-locked, so the part sits in the same place in every frame at any line speed.
Calibration is a job with a log

The frame went on over a weekend shutdown. The conveyor, the pallets and the operator terminal are the ones that were already there.

Stations

Four heads, one controller

Every head runs on the DC-40 and the same inspection software, so a mixed station is one spare-parts list and one set of credentials.

Before it ships

Calibrated before it ships

A buyer cannot audit every supplier. These are the four things worth asking any of us to evidence, and the two of them we hand over on paper.

Target calibration
Every head is calibrated against a certified dot target on a granite plate. The residual is printed on the sheet that ships in the box.
Repeatability run
Thirty consecutive measurements of a reference part. We record 2σ, not the best frame of the run.
Burn-in
48 h powered soak at 45 °C before the station is packed, with the lighting cycling at production duty.
Re-calibration interval
Twelve months, or after any optical or mechanical change. The procedure is a download you run yourself.

Company figures — year founded, floor area, annual output, headcount — are deliberately blank on this demonstration site rather than filled with plausible numbers. Ask for them; an unverifiable figure is worth less than an empty field.

After the handover

Spares and response times

An inspection station that stops the line is worse than no inspection station. These are the commitments, in the form you would put into a contract.

Spares held
Cameras, lenses, bar and dome lights and protective windows for every shipped configuration, held seven years from last shipment.
Response
Remote diagnosis within 4 working hours. A replacement head is dispatched next working day when the fault is in the head.
On site
Engineer on site within 2 working days inside the EU, 5 working days elsewhere, at published day rates.
Distributor support
Territory agreement, a spares buffer held at the distributor, and two commissioning trainings a year.
A field service spare parts kit laid out on a dark bench: a boxed industrial camera, a spare lens, an LED bar light, two coiled M12 cables, a replacement protective window in a foam tray, an allen key set and a mounting bracket.

Certification

Per standard, per market, with the certificate number and the expiry — a standard name on its own cannot be checked. Where we do not hold a certificate the row says so instead of being left out.

Draymoor is a demonstration brand. Every figure in these two tables is a representative specification figure and every certificate number is a specimen value — they are formatted the way real ones are so the page can be judged, but they cannot be verified. Replace them with issued values before publication: a professional buyer treats an unverifiable certificate as no certificate at all.
